The Visioneer 8700 USB Scanner is no longer manufactured. It does everything I want a scanner to do. I wanted a back-up to my present scanner without having to go to the trouble of having to reconfigure another model scanner. I bought this scanner new at Best Buy for 69 dollars after first buying (and returning!) two HP scanners. While I found the HP scanners to be slow, noisy, bulky things, this one was a pleasant surprise! It's compact, VERY quiet, VERY fast, the lid comes off completely for larger scans and wide paper and because it opens from the side, it fits will in small places and is easy to access. I will never have another scanner. Visoneer makes fantastic scanners. They've been making scanners for years and they know what they're doing. I trust them implicitly! -- AWESOME!!!
