User Reviews about Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Instant PDF Sheet Fed Scanner
I have used a SCSI version of this scanner. A real pain to hook up and connect. Now that its now USB connected, it's much easier to use. The RAK2File software is a bit intimidating at first, because I am used to the Windows explorer method of managing files. Once you get the hang of it, it's really quite impressive. It is so easy to scan and file documents, I plan to scan everything and get rid of my 4-drawer legal size filing cabinet and boxes of paper files. I am not quite a hoarder, but my office sure looks like it. Graphically, you're looking at bookshelves with binders and your files are put into binders. Your files look as if they're in real binders. You can tab your binders and the tab names become titles on the front page binder index. How impressive is that! Even my computer novice wife thinks it's great. She plans on buying our two daughters one for Christmas.
Plans:
1. Scan all my user manuals - I usually have to look on the Internet, because I don't know where the hard copy manual is.
2. Scan magazine articles I want to save. So even if I don't read them they're not taking up space.
3. Scan all my old military and government service documents.
4. Scan all my financial documents.
The top feeder tray folds out and the bottom output tray both fold out, so it's a pretty compact package when both are folded in.
A files management rule - store at least two copies in separate drives. So if one drive goes down, you have the other to fall back on.
The scanner comes with a business card filer so you can scan your business cards. I haven't used other card filing programs so can't say whether this is better or worse than others.
I have a lot of other PDFs that I created with the previous scanner, that I should be able to integrate into the RAC2filer program. -- Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Instant PDF Sheet Fed Scanner
The machine is easy to use and fast. I have put through a 20 page document without any jamming or 2 for 1 scans. Excellent quality scan. The plastic shell is a little cheapish. It does not affect the quality of what I bought it for. It does not get moved around and has aquired a fixed spot on my desktop.Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Instant PDF Sheet Fed Scanner -- Mr. Accountant
I had another scansnap that they would not upgrade the software for VISTA. I purchased this unit and cans great, it is more acurate in the auto setting. I like that it asks where you want to place the scanned item. I wish it had the software that NETRECEIPTS has for filing and charater recognition. -- Snap s1500
I just love this thing. I bought it to scan in old documents that I didn't want to throw away but I needed to unload the paper. I freed up so much room in my filing cabinets. It feels great to unload all that paperwork.
I've scanned 100+ page documents. Granted they didn't all fit in the feeder, but I kep adding pages as they were scanned. I've had no problem with different size papers as long as they were centered in the feeder. I've recommended it to friends and one bought it sight unseen just because I raved about it so much - and she loves it. The person who recommended it to me was raving about it. The only thing stopping another friend from buying it is money (She was laid off.)
I agree with other reviewer about the lack of a TWAIN feature. It is something I definitly could have used if it was available. I am just so grateful for as far as it has gotten me without the feature.
I've scanned in my old magazines that I didn't want to throw away. I did need to cut them down the spine, but they scanned in beautifully. The colors were awesome. I even did a few pictures just to see how the scanner behaved. It was great! I'll be scanning in other pictures in the future. I did try a 35mm slide. The one I have is rather dark and nothing is working for me from a scanning perspective because it is so dark. I want to do other slidse but I don't think I will risk it because the other slides are so old. I don't want to damage them going through the scanner. But the machine tried its best to scan it. I think it would have worked if I had a different slide.
The only other drawback other than the TWAIN is the size. I can't scan anything wider than 8.5 inches. Som of the magazines I want to scan in and unload are 10 inches. I'll have to find a paper cutter and trim them before scanning them in. -- I Love It
Does all it promises. Life is so much easier now that I can scan items so quickly -- scansnap
